Hyperthyroidism is a condition when the levels of the thyroxine hormone in the body are very high. The thyroxine hormone is produced by the thyroid gland, and plays a role in various metabolic processes. Therefore, interference with this hormone will cause disruption of the body's metabolism.

Hyperthyroidism is more likely to occur in women. This condition can occur at any age, including when you were a child. But it usually appears when entering the age of 20-40 years.

Symptoms of hyperthyroidism

The thyroid is a gland in the front of the neck that controls the body's normal metabolism and functions, such as turning food into energy, regulating body temperature, and affecting the heart rate, muscles, and bones.   • Infertility.
  • The menstrual cycle becomes irregular, rare, or stops at once.
  • In diabetics, hyperthyroidism can cause thirst and is very tired.

In addition there are also clinical signs or other symptoms that may be found in patients with hyperthyroidism, including:

  • Enlargement of the thyroid gland which causes swelling of the neck.
  • Palpitations or fast and / or irregular heartbeat.
  • Warm and moist skin.
  • Muscle twitching.
  • Tremor or trembling.
  • The appearance of hives (urticaria) or rash.
  • Uneven hair loss.
  • Reddish palms.
  • Nail structure loosens.

Initially the symptoms that appear may be mild, but when the level of thyroxine in the blood increases, the symptoms will get worse.

If symptoms occur such as dizziness, shortness of breath, rapid and irregular heartbeat, or loss of consciousness, it is recommended to immediately see a doctor or to the nearest hospital so that it can be dealt with quickly.
