Hip Pain When Walking Up Stairs

Pain in the waist area to the hips, sometimes to the feet, should not be underestimated. Especially if the pain is causing you to have difficulty walking, then this should be immediately examined and handled by a doctor. Here are some possible causes for your complaint:

  • Low back pain, possibly caused by a backbone disorder.
  • Osteoporosis or bone loss. Usually complaints will also get worse if there is a history of injury / fall.
  • Osteoarthritis or calcification of joints
  • Gout arthritis, because uric acid is too high in the body
  • Urinary tract stones
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

Need a direct examination by a doctor to find out the cause of pain in your lumbar region. Additional examinations such as blood tests, urine, X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI may be needed if there is an indication from the doctor. The best treatment will be adjusted to the causes found by the doctor. While there are a number of suggestions from me to reduce and prevent the pain from increasing, namely:

  • Avoid heavy activities, especially lifting heavy loads and up and down stairs.
  • Sleeping with a flat, rather hard base.
  • Increase consumption of healthy foods, including milk (special attention if you have a history of heart disease and diabetes).
  • If you are very sick you can take pain relievers that are quite safe like paracetamol.
