What is The Function of The Female Reproductive System

Women have many different physical characteristics from men because of their important role in reproduction. There are two functions of the female reproductive system - to allow fertilization from the meeting of sperm and egg cells, and protect organs in femininity from pathogens that cause infection. Here are all you need to know about the female reproductive organs and their role in body health.

What are the organs involved in the female reproductive system?

1. Ovary

The ovary, or ovary, is on the right and left side of the pelvic cavity, which is adjacent to the upper part of the uterus. The ovaries are responsible for producing female sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and ovum, which are commonly called egg cells.

2. Fallopian tubes

The fallopian tube has a shape like a channel that runs from the right and left ends of the uterus to the end of the ovary. The fallopian tube is responsible for transporting the released ovum and bringing it into the infundibulum to be transferred to the uterus.

3. Uterus

The uterus (uterus) is the place where the embryo is implanted and then grows. This section covers and supports a developing fetus. In addition, the uterus supports the embryo during the initial development stage. The muscles of the uterine wall contract during labor to push the fetus through the birth canal.

4. Vagina

What you have been able to observe from the outside with the naked eye is not the vagina, but the vulva. In the vulva there is a vaginal opening. The vagina itself is actually located in the body behind the bladder, lower than the uterus. One of the functions of the vagina is the way out of blood during menstruation and the birth path of the baby during labor. The main responsibility is as a "tunnel" for sperm swimming towards the uterus and fallopian tubes for fertilization.

5. Vulva

The vulva is the outer appearance of the vaginal anatomy which consists of the labia majora, labia minora, urinary tract openings for urination, and the clitoris. Its function is to protect the vagina. The vulva is also a sensitive part of a woman's body that is easily stimulated and produces sexual pleasure.

6. Breasts and mammary glands

Breasts are also one of the organs involved in the female reproductive system. Breasts consist of mammary glands, milk ducts, and adipose glands. The mammary gland is a special type of sudoriferus gland that has been altered to produce milk to feed the baby.

Don't be embarrassed to find more information about the structure of your body or partner. This can help you to know exactly how to maintain a healthy body.
