Stroke is often referred to as 'the silent killer', because it often appears suddenly and has no symptoms. However, you can detect strokes early through the FAST method. This method invites you to pay attention to the signs and changes that exist on the face alias face, aka hand arms, speech aka the ability to speak, and time, namely time.
Detecting strokes through the face can be done by looking at the differences on the sides of the face. This difference can be known by smiling. Notice if there are side faces left behind? Does the face or eyes look like or not symmetrical? If so, you may experience a stroke.
2. A for Arms (hands)
3. S for Speech (talking)
Difficulty speaking or moving your lips may also be an early sign of a stroke. If you have difficulty speaking, then you can get a stroke. The other sign is that you speak vaguely, so that other people have difficulty understanding your words. To be sure, you can try saying a fairly difficult sentence like "a snake coiling on a fence", and see if you feel any difficulties?
4. T for Time (time)
If you experience the symptoms above, chances are you have a stroke. Therefore, don't buy time. You should seek medical attention immediately. Remember, strokes are an emergency case that must get immediate action.
Don't forget to also note when symptoms begin to appear. You can tell all to the doctor. This is very important to help doctors determine the best treatment method and avoid undesirable things.
For information, stroke is a disease that arises when the brain gets less blood flow. According to Dr. Astrid Wulan Kusumoastuti, there are two conditions that can cause strokes. First, blockage of blood vessels in the brain (ischemic). Second, strokes can also be caused by rupture of blood vessels in the brain (hemorrhagic).
The FAST method above is an easy and simple method for detecting strokes early. This method can help you detect strokes early, and avoid the adverse effects that might occur.
